When it comes to comic books my favorites have to be the Invisibles by Grant Morrison (phenomenal writer), Hellboy, Hellblazer, Lenore (Roman Dirge you have the gift), Squee and Johney the Homicidal Maniac. However my taste for good story can range from Superman to Futurama. There was a time when I owned a business that sold comic book paraphernalia: t-shirts, jewelry and the such. The economy can be harsh to small businesses like I had.

My movie tastes tend to lie with the Sci Fi/Horror genre. I have been disappointed so many times over the years when it comes to these kinds of movies. There are occasionally the surprise movie trilogies: the Evil Dead, LOTR, the Matrix, the FIRST trilogy of Star Wars, and Resident Evil. It does seem to be improving in the Sci Fi arena though with Serenity, Batman: the Dark Knight (don’t know if I would consider this Sci Fi though), District 9, and Star Trek. Mind you there are so many older movies that broke ground and made the movies amazing to go to: Aliens, Blade Runner, etc. but that again is another conversation for a later date.
So here’s to the movies the movies that made us love to go to the movies: Game over man! Game over!
To the TV shows that captured our hearts and minds: So Say We All!

The other show t hat redefined television, and the reason to stay home on a Friday night, was Twin Peaks. David Lynch took us into a seemingly normal world and surprised us at every turn with crazy people, dancing dwarfs, alternate universes, and and an ending that pissed us all of. Why oh why do the network executives always cancel the most interesting shows and leave things like Two and a Half men on the air to torture us. Money better spent on making a Mass Effect TV show if you ask me.
At least there are a couple of shows on the air now worth watching: Dexter (who thought we would love a serial killer), Fringe (welcome back X-Files), True Blood (rock it sexy everything), Stargate Universe (dark, brooding, awesome), and even The Closer (Kyra Sedgwick Thank You! thank you very much). Let’s just hope that they don’t run 1- 2 seasons too long, or take to long to get the season out like some have (X-Files, Smallville, Lost, Nip/Tuck, the L word) Or end too early like others (Carnival, Miracles, Revelations, Arrested Development, Extras).
So now I root on the underachievers and the funny that make me wish I was funnier. 30 Rock (Tina Fey, Alec Bladwin, by Thor’s hammer!), It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia (two words “Kitten Mittens”), Futurama (back in June 2010 thank GOD!), Family Guy, South Park, Venture Bros., Sealab 2021 (oh wait they canceled that one too, boo), Glee, V (Morena Baccarin from Firefly and Elizabeth Mitchell from Lost come on people!), and Archer (on FX).
Television is our escape, our home away from home with a set of the most dysfunctional family members we could ever wish for. Making and being a part of something that makes people passionate, angry, happy, devastated, elated, in essence running us through the gambit of emotions is what being a part of the industry is all about. You have to love what you do or people won’t. We need the distraction, the get away from the things that might be plaguing us, and movies and TV does that for us all. We marvel at the universe and wonder how we can be someones superhero or savior. To be a part of that is to be a part of magic. We all deserve to get away and time and time again these TV sho ws and so many movies have helped me do it. It shouldn’t be about fame and fortune, it should be about being a part of something that can change people’s lives and how they look at the world.
Who do you want to be?on a side note: I no longer go into the woods for fear of just about anything wanting to kill me sooooo maybe I’ve watched too many horror movies.
